How to Troubleshoot the HAI Alarm System

Home Automation Incorporated, or HAI, is a technology company that specializes in home safety and security. The HAI alarm system utilizes up to 64 wireless security transmitters to broadcast information to a central receiver that you will use to arm and disarm the system. As with any electronic equipment, you may have technical issues with your HAI security system. By looking at the number displayed on your receiver, you can quickly determine what is causing these problems.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Mode" button on the receiver to enter run mode in which the receiver will monitor the transmitters in your home. When there is a change in the status of a transmitter, the receiver will begin to blink to indicate which transmitter it is and what the problem may be.

    • 2

Make note of the number that is flashing on the receiver. The number will correspond to a transmitter in your home. Use the list of transmitters given to you on installation of the system to determine where the transmitter is located.

    • 3

Use the series of letters that flashes after the transmitter number to determine what is causing the problem. If you see "AL" on the display after the transmitter number, this means that this particular transmitter is offline. This could be because the battery is dead or has been removed, or the transmitter has been damaged. Inspect the transmitter to determine the issue. If it has a good battery and is intact, you may need to contact the manufacturer.

If the display reads "CO" it means the cover of the transmitter has been removed. This could be the result of damage to the unit or tampering. Ensure that the area the transmitter is in is safe before examining the it. Replace the cover and the error message will be removed.

If you see "SF" on the transmitter, this indicates there has been a supervision failure. This could mean the battery power has run out or there is a hardware problem with the transmitter or the receiver. Replace the batteries by sliding off the cover and removing the old batteries. If this does not fix the problem, contact the manufacturer or installer for support.

Change the batteries in the transmitter if you see the "LO" error message. This is just a warning that the batteries may run out soon. Once fresh batteries are inserted, the message will disappear.
