# How to Turn on a Lorex Motion Detector
Lorex is a company that specializes in providing home security equipment. This includes a camera with an attached motion sensor. Rather than keeping the camera running continuously (and causing an increase in your energy bill), the camera stays dormant until activated by the onboard motion sensor. The camera then feeds a signal back to an LCD receiver that is capable of recording whatever action the camera sees. You can play back this video later -- but first you have to turn on the camera with the attached motion detector and your LCD receiver.

Camera

Insert the camera cord into the back of the camera. Most Lorex cameras will have this step completed for you, but older models don't. The motion sensor is installed inside the camera, and will be turned on automatically when the camera is powered up.

Insert the camera cord into the camera power adapter cord.

Plug the camera power adapter into a regular 120-volt outlet. This will provide power to the camera and automatically turn on the motion sensor.
LCD Receiver

Insert the prong of the receiver power adapter into the LCD receiver.

Plug the receiver power adapter into a 120-volt outlet.

Find the power switch. On Lorex's LW2700 it will be on the rear panel, on Lorex's LW2900 it will be on the side panel.

Slide the switch to the "ON" position.
