Brinks used to be one of the most prominent names in the home security business. The company changed its name to Broadview in 2009 and then was purchased by Tyco in 2010. Tyco already owned Broadview competitor ADT, and it merged the two companies after the purchase to create a home security conglomerate. There are many Brinks systems still in service, and most are now monitored by ADT monitoring stations.
