The Chamberlain Reporter wireless alarm (a.k.a., "Reporter" alarm) is a motion sensing device that provides a warning when motion is detected. The Reporter can be used in a home to protect an entrance way--for example, a window. The Reporter operates wirelessly, which makes installation easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide on what you want to protect with the Reporter wireless alarm, for example, a door or a window. Screw the sensor box to the mounting plate with the provided screw using a Phillips screwdriver. Insert batteries into the battery compartment slots on the sensor box.

    • 2

Push the "1" labeled switch on the sensor box to "Off." Push the "2" labeled switch on the sensor box to "Off" if you have pets, otherwise push the switch to "On."

    • 3

Turn the Reporter base station over and open the battery compartment lid. Insert the backup batteries into the battery compartment, close the lid and return the base station to an upright position.

    • 4

Place the Reporter base station next to the sensor box. Plug the base station into a wall outlet for power. Press the "Learn" button on the sensor box once. Repeat this procedure if the base station does not immediately make a buzzing sound for a second.

    • 5

Relocate the Reporter base station on a table central to the house, or on your night table if you are concerned about hearing it when asleep. Plug the base station's power cord into a wall outlet for power.

    • 6

Rotate the volume knob fully clockwise so that the alarm will sound loudly. Rotate the external antenna so that the tip is pointing in the general direction of the Reporter motion sensor.

    • 7

Place the cover plate over the batteries on the sensor box. Screw the included metal screws through the cover plate and into the pre-cut holes on the sensor box using the Phillips screwdriver.

    • 8

Place the flat side of the sensor box against a wall, facing the entranceway that is to be protected, half a foot above the baseboard. Screw wood screws through the pre-cut holes in the side of the sensor box and into the wall using the Phillips screwdriver.

    • 9

Press the power button on the Reporter base station. Release the button when you hear the tone that indicates the base station is now activated.
