Open a window you want your home alarm to protect. Place a sensor plate on the bottom edge of the window. Screw wood screws through the plate into the window, using a Phillips screwdriver.
Place the sensor receiver plate on the windowsill opposite the sensor plate, making sure the two will touch when the window is closed. Screw wood screws through the plate into the windowsill using a Phillips screwdriver.
Loosen the two screws on the sensor receiver plate, using a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off the ends of the two wires from the wire spool, using a wire stripper. Place an end of each wire around a screw. Tighten the screws. Close the window and lock it.
Run the wire spool down the wall and across the baseboard of the wall until you reach the room where the alarm system receiver will be set up. Cut the two wires from the spool with a wire cutter. Strip the ends of the two wires as before. Repeat this procedure with any other windows you want wired to the alarm.
Open one of the doors that you want to protect with your home alarm. Place a sensor plate on the bottom edge of the door. Screw wood screws through the plate into the door, using the Phillips screwdriver.
Place the sensor receiver plate on the inside door frame, opposite the sensor plate, making sure the two will touch when the door is closed. Screw wood screws through the plate into the door frame, using the Phillips screwdriver.
Loosen the two screws on the sensor receiver plate with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off the ends of the two wires from the wire spool using a wire stripper. Place an end of each wire around a screw. Tighten the screw. Close the door and lock it.
Run the wire spool down the wall and across the baseboard of the wall until you come to the room where the alarm system receiver is to be set up. Cut the two wires from the spool with a wire cutter. Strip the ends of the two wires. Repeat this procedure with any other door you want protected by the alarm.
Plug the alarm system receiver's power cord into a wall outlet. Loosen the dual set of screws on the input panel at the back of the receiver. Wind a pair of wires each around the dual set of screws. Tighten the screws, and turn the receiver's power button on.
