Plug the power port on the ultrasonic motion alarm sensor's power supply cable into the socket on the back of the ultrasonic motion sensor. Run the power supply's cable to a wall outlet on the side of the house or on the wall next to the wall leading into the house from the backyard. Plug the free end of the cable into the sensor's power supply brick. Plug the power brick's cord into the wall outlet.
Position yourself in your backyard, facing your garden with the house behind you or to the side, so the sensor of the motion detector will cover the length of the garden once it has been installed.
Pile up cinder blocks so that the sensor on the front of the ultrasonic motion alarm sensor will clear the ground when facing the garden but not be so high as to be even with the tallest flower or other growth.
Place the ultrasonic motion alarm sensor on the cinder block with the sensor aimed at the garden.
Open the side or back control panel on the ultrasonic motion alarm sensor; if there is a set screw in the panel, loosen the screw first with a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.
Rotate the volume knob of the built-in alarm fully clockwise. Rotate the frequency knob, per the instructions that are provided, so the ultrasonic blast is tailored for the type of animals that have bothered your garden in the past. Close the panel and tighten the screw, if there is one.
