How to Change an Ademco Battery

Your Ademco alarm system keeps you and your family safe from burglars and intruders and you will need to change it to keep it operating. Batteries may die within four to five years, or when the word "BAT" shows on the display. Changing the Ademco's battery is a simple procedure. In addition, it does not mess with the current settings on your alarm system.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the AC transformer from the wall outlet, if the unit is AC-powered.

    • 2

Hold the keypad firmly, if mounted to the wall. Lift it up and out from its mounting plate. This exposes the battery compartment.

    • 3

Place the keypad on a flat surface, such as a table. Remove the old batteries from the unit. Replace the unit with fresh Ademco batteries.

    • 4

Insert new batteries at once for normal operation. Make sure that the negative (-) terminals meet the springs.

    • 5

Place the battery cover back on. Reattach the keypad to the mounting plate.

    • 6

Plug the AC transformer back into the wall. Press any number on the keypad to activate it. Enter your four-digit security code and "1 OFF" to remove any displayed errors.
