Enter the password to disarm the alarm system on the keypad that will be replaced. Trip the circuit breaker at the fuse box to stop electricity from flowing to the keypad.
Remove the screws from around the keypad using a Phillips screwdriver or Phillips jeweler's screwdriver, depending on the model of the keypad.
Pull the keypad off the wall. Twist the screw-tab connectors off the twisted pairs of wires that are now visible. Put the screw-tab connectors in your pocket. Separate the wires from each other. Place the keypad away.
Plug the wire harness tab into the slot on the back of the DMP-brand keypad. Twist the tab clockwise to lock it in the slot.
Scrape the already-stripped ends of the colored wires attached to the harness using the blade of a utility knife.
Twist the end of the green/white wire from the keypad around the end the green/white wire that is coming out of the hole the keypad was covering. Twist the end of the black wire from the keypad around the end of the black wire coming out of the hole. Twist a screw-tab connector over each pair of twisted wires.
Twist the end of the green wire from the keypad around the end of the green wire coming out of the hole. Twist the end of the yellow wire from the keypad around the end of the yellow wire coming out of the hole.
Twist the end of the red wire from the keypad around the end of the red wire coming out of the hole. Twist a screw-tab connector over each pair of twisted wires.
Push the wires into the hole. Place the keypad on the wall, over the hole. Run the screws taken from your pocket through the pre-drilled holes in the keypad and into the wall using the Phillips screwdriver.
Restore the electric power at the fuse box. Enter the password into the keypad. Select the reset option from the keypad -- if the reset option can not be selected from the keypad, enter the password and select the reset option from the alarm's control panel instead to reset the system.
