Instructions

    • 1

Turn the power off at the breaker for the light you will be replacing with the Brinks motion detecting floodlight. The circuit breaker box is a large metal box located somewhere in your home, where circuits delivering electricity to different parts of the house can be turned on or off. All of the breaker switches will likely be pointing one direction. You will need to flip the breaker controlling the outside light that you want to replace to the opposite direction. Test that the circuit is truly off by flipping the light switch and verifying that the light does not turn on.

    • 2

Remove the existing light fixture. This will be held in place by several screws at its base. Remove these screws with the screw driver so that the fixture is no longer stuck to the wall and the electrical cords are revealed.

    • 3

Pull the plastic protective caps off of both the black and white electric lines. Untwist the lines so that those coming from the old light are completely disconnected to those coming from the house. Set the old light aside.

    • 4

Hold the new Brinks light in position, twist the black wire coming from the Brinks light around the black wire coming from the house, twist the white wire coming from the Brinks light around the white wire coming from the house. Place the plastic protective caps over the black and white wires where they are twisted together.

    • 5

Push the Brinks light up against the wall so that the two light cones are on top and level, with the motion detector on the bottom.

    • 6

Affix the motion detector by screwing in the included mounting screws into the screw holes on the top left and lower right corners of the Brinks light fixture.

    • 7

Squirt a small layer of sealant around the fixture base where it butts up against the house. Follow the instructions provided with your particular brand of sealant.

    • 8

Aim the motion detector towards the area where you wish to detect motion by moving it along the pivots with your hands. Screw the two light bulbs into the lamp cones.

    • 9

Set the motion detector sensitivity. The setting for this is a small dial located at the bottom and to the left on the wall fixture, labeled "SENS". Turning the dial fully to the right for maximum sensitivity, fully to the left for minimum sensitivity. If you find the light to be too sensitive or not sensitive enough in the future, you may change this later.

    • 10

Set the light duration. This is altered with a dial that is just to the right of the of the SENS dial; it is labeled TIME. Tuning the dial all the way to right will program the light to stay on for eight minutes after activation. Turning the dial all the way to the left will program the dial to light for five seconds after activation. The light will only activate at night, unless the dial is turned fully to the left, which will allow the light to activate during daylight hours as well. Test and alter these settings as desired while the light is turned on.

    • 11

Flip the breaker back to the on position to allow electricity to the light.
