Home alarm systems like the Vista 20P let you program a special duress code that, when entered to disarm the alarm, sends a silent alert to the security company, letting it know you were forced to deactivate the alarm by an intruder. The alarm appears to disarm as normal so as not to disturb the intruder, but security will be silently dispatched to your home. Your family should know the duress code of your alarm system and be ready to enter it if necessary. Duress codes only work if your alarm is connected to a home security company.

     Approach the alarm panel as normal when you enter your property under duress.

     Enter your four-digit duress code instead of your normal code to disarm the alarm.
