Honeywell Ademco 4219 Installation

The Honeywell company makes many different electronic products that you can use in your home, including a line of home security devices. If you have an existing Honeywell security system, you can extend the coverage of that system with the Honeywell Ademco 4219 Wired Zone Expander. This device will allow you to create new zones for your alarm system once it is installed. You will need to mount the device on your wall and connect the wiring from your main system for it to work properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the power to the room that contains the main security panel as well as the room that you are installing the 4219 in by flipping the circuit breaker to the "Off" position. Place the housing for the 4219 onto the wall you want to mount it on and use the pencil to mark the location of the mounting holes. The unit can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

    • 2

Remove the housing from the wall and use the power drill to make holes in the locations you have marked. Place the housing back on the wall and use the power drill to insert the provided mounting screws through the holes to secure the housing to the wall.

    • 3

Connect the green and yellow wires from the main security terminal to the green and yellow inputs on the side of the unit. Connect a 14-volt power source to the red terminal and connect a grounded wire to the black terminal. These connections will give the unit power and allow it to communicate with the main terminal.

    • 4

Connect the wires from the zone sensors you want to monitor to the terminals at the bottom of the unit. Each two zones will share the middle terminal -- for example, the wires from Zone A will be connected to terminals 1 and 2, while the Zone B will be connected to terminals 2 and 3. Connect Zone C to terminals 3 and 4 and Zone D to terminals 4 and 5.

Attach the provided tamper magnet to the inside cover of the unit and place the tamper jumper on the unit into the lower position. Connect the cover to the mounted portion of the unit by lining up the tabs on the top and bottom of the cover with the tabs on the mounted part.
