Instructions

    • 1

Power on the system and reset it according to the user manual for your particular expander system. If the display on the unit reads "Zone not ready" proceed to the next step.

    • 2

Check to make sure that all windows and doors connected to the alarm zones are shut.

    • 3

Enter your personal code to arm the system. If the display still produces an error message proceed to the next step.

    • 4

Locate the screws on the mounting brackets that secure the panel to the wall. Use your screwdriver to remove the screws.

    • 5

Pull the panel slightly away from the wall and inspect the circuitry at the rear of the unit to make sure they are plugged securely into the ports.

    • 6

Use a multimeter to test the circuits to ensure that there isn't a short in one of the circuits. Do this by setting the dial on the multimeter to "V" so that it reads in volts. Touch the black lead running from the multimeter to a non-electrified surface to ground the meter and touch the red lead to the circuits. Wait for the multimeter to produce a reading. If there is a low or non-existent reading the circuit is likely dead and you will need to have an electrician replace the wiring.
