How to Bypass a Low Battery Chirp on a Home Alarm

Most home security systems have a digital display keypad that operates on battery power. When the keypad’s battery begins to die, a beep will occur every 40 seconds. If the battery begins to die in the middle of the night or if you do not have a replacement battery on hand, the beeping can become quite bothersome until you have the opportunity to replace the battery. You can bypass the beep until you replace the battery, but you should replace the battery as soon as possible to ensure your security alarm continues to function properly.

Instructions

    • 1

View the display screen on your alarm’s keypad.

    • 2

Verify that the word “CHECK” or “BAT” appears on the screen and is the cause of the beeping noise. Either word indicates that the battery operating the keypad is low and that there is not a service error in the alarm system.

    • 3

Push any key on the keypad to bypass the beep. The word “CHECK” or “BAT” will remain on the display screen until you change the battery in the keypad.
