How to Remove a Faulty Door Sensor for the Ademco Alarm System

Ademco alarm systems are available for both your home and business. Occasionally, a door sensor may go bad, which causes the alarm system to be inoperable until you have the sensor repaired or you remove the sensor by bypassing it. Although only a repair technician can remove the physical sensor, bypassing the sensor will allow you to enable the alarm system until a repair technician is able to remove or repair the sensor for you. Bypassing a door alarm takes only a few minutes, and once you have the sensor repaired, you can turn off the bypass option.

     Disarm your Ademco alarm system by entering your security code. Push the “Enter” button.

     Type your security code on the keypad a second time and push the “BYPASS” button.

     Type the faulty door sensor’s zone number into the keypad. If the zone number is a single-digit number, enter a zero first.

     View the display screen for your Ademco alarm system to verify that it shows that zone is being bypassed. The alarm will beep, and the display will show the word “BYPASS” and the zone number.

     Activate your Ademco alarm system as usual.
