The Door Gard Keypad Is Not Accepting New User Codes

Using a keypad entry gives you access to your house without using a key. The Door Gard system gives you the option of installing individual codes for different users, so that no two people have the same code. Depending on different factors, you may discover that the electronic keypad refuses to accept new user codes.
  1. Number of Codes

    • The Door Gard system holds up to 120 individual codes in its system, including a master code. While homeowners may only use a few different codes, businesses and corporations have problems when they use too many codes. Once the system reaches the maximum 120 codes, it will not recognize or update any additional codes. If this occurs, you must remove some of the older codes before the keypad will recognize new ones.

    Adding New Codes

    • Before adding a new code, you must enter the master code. Press "99" and the "#" button, then your master code. You use the sequential number of the individual code when adding a new code. For example, if you add a second code, press "2" and the "#" button, then the person’s code. Wait until you see the yellow LED light flashing quickly and enter the code again, which makes the light flash slowly. Every time you add a new code, you must list the sequential number of the user before entering the code.

    System Identification

    • Entering the wrong sequential number before the code stops the system from identifying a new code. For example, if you hit the "#" and "6" before entering the fourth code into the system, it will not recognize the new code. When you attempt to enter the code in the future, the system will not allow access. The system also requires you to press the "*" button on the keypad after entering a new code. Exiting the system without pushing the "*" key keeps the system from recognizing the new user code.

    Testing the System

    • The system might not recognize codes because of an internal problem. Test the system by attaching a power supply to the keypad. Enter "7890#123456" and press the "*" button, which sends the system into self-test mode. You should see the lights flash or hear the keypad make three beeping sounds before the lights and beeping goes off for three seconds. If this does not happen, you have an internal problem and should contact Door Gard directly.
