The Fire Burglary Instruments (FBI) home alarm system model XL-1 offers protection against home break-ins and fires. You can disconnect the alarm from monitoring your home at any time without having to remove the sensors or having an alarm technician come out to visit your home. Always contact your alarm company to inform it that you no longer wish to use its services before you disconnect the alarm. Once you have contacted it, you can securely disconnect the alarm without the alarm company.

     Open the door to the alarm box where the brain of the alarm is. The box is not the keypad and is usually installed in a closet or by your electrical breaker box. Some boxes might require a key to open them.

     Unplug the power cord that runs from the alarm box to your electrical outlet.

     Disconnect the wire harness that runs from the alarm to the backup battery inside of the box.

     Unplug the phone line that runs to the box from your home’s telephone line.
