Padlock hasps traditionally have a latch which fits over a circular piece. Place the latch in position and attach the lock to the circular piece to prevent entry and secure possessions. The flaw in this design is that a crowbar applied to the latch can pry the hasps from the door, rendering the padlock useless. The guarded hasp has welded circular protrusions that prevent a crowbar from being used to remove it. Install your own hasp to ensure that your possessions are safe from would-be thieves.

1
Select a location to mount the guarded hasp. Ideally, one side should be mounted on the door and the other on the door frame. Ensure that both sides of the hasp are able to lie flush against the door.

2
Hold the hasp up to the door and use the pencil to mark where you will place the screws. Make sure that the two sides of the hasp fit together snugly. Remove the hasp and drill holes for the screws.
