How to Make Padded Desk Edges

Padded desk edges support the forearms, reducing contact stress when working at a desk. In homes with young children, padded edges prevent injuries from running or falling into angular desk edges. Commercial, ergonomic desk edges can cost up to 45 dollars or more, but you can make your own with inexpensive foam pipe insulation.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut foam pipe insulation to fit the edge of your desk, using a utility knife.

    • 2

Cut a straight slit down the length of the insulation if it isn't pre-slit.

    • 3

Attach pieces of hook tape to the inside edges of the pipe's slit. Attach pieces of loop tape to the top and bottom of the desk edge so the hook and loop pieces on the pipe and the desk line up.

    • 4

Attach the pipe insulation to the edge of the desk.
