How to Change the Access Code on the Keyless Entry Keypad for Garage Door Openers

Automatic garage door openers are increasingly common in modern homes with attached car storage. With the push of a button or entry of a code, the electric motor raises or lowers the garage door. Regularly changing the access code on the outdoor keyless entry panel ensures only those in your circle of trust are able to enter the garage and, in some cases, your home. The instructions may depend on the precise model of garage opener in question.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the existing PIN code as normal into the keyless entry keypad and hold the "#" key.

    • 2

Release "#" and carefully enter a new PIN code into the keypad.

    • 3

Press "Enter" to confirm the new code; the garage lights will blink.

    • 4

Test the new code by entering it into the keypad. The garage opens and closes as normal.
