How to Change the Security Code for a Schlage Door Lock

A Schlage door lock with a security code panel provides an extra level of protection for external doors or doors with access to a restricted area. Users approach the door, enter a four-digit code and turn a latch to enter. You will want to change the security code if you suspect someone outside your family or business has access to the area. Frequently changing an entry code provides an additional level of security.

Instructions

1. Delete Existing User Code

   • 1

     Enter the six-digit programming code. The default is printed on the yellow label on the back of the Schlage lock.

   • 2

     Press "Schlage" and then "2."

   • 3

     Enter the four-digit user code that you want to delete twice. The code is now deleted.

   Replace User Code

   • 4

     Enter the six-digit programming code.

   • 5

     Press "Schlage" and then "1."

   • 6

     Enter the new four-digit user code twice. The code is now ready for use.
