How Do I Find the Door Code for the Genie Intellicode?

The Genie Intellicode garage door opener automatically changes the entry code to your garage every time the remote control is used; other openers keep the same code between uses, potentially putting it at risk of interception. It is not possible to find out the current code used by the door opener. Many people, however, want the door code so they can add a new remote to the system. Even if it were possible to find the code, it would change the next time the remote is used. But there is a way to install a new remote without knowing the opener code.

     Press and hold the "Program/Set" button on the powerhead. You may need a stepladder to reach the button.

     Release "Program/Set" when the two LEDs to the left of the button come on. The blue LED stays on.

     Press "Program/Set" again. The purple LED begins flashing.

     Press and release the button on the remote you want to use to open the garage. Both LEDs flash purple.

     Press and release the remote button a second time. Both LEDs flash blue. Wait until both LEDs go out.

     Test the opener with the remote control; the door should open.
