How to Change the Code on Schlage Keyless Door Locks

The Schlage company has been manufacturing home and door security systems for over nine decades, and keyless entry systems are one of their many products. Because there are no keys to lose or key holes in your doorknob that thieves can pick, a keyless door lock adds to the security of your home. To unlock your doors, you must enter a number that only you and your family members know into the keypad. To add to the safety of this system, you should take the steps to change your personal number every few months.

Instructions

  1. Change the Personal Code

    • 1

Locate your personal code for your Schlage keyless entry system if this is the first time you are changing the code. This is the six-digit number printed on the back of your lock on a yellow sticker or on the instructions that came with your system.

    • 2

Enter your six-digit personal code into the keypad. Once you enter this number, press the Schlage button above the keypad and then press the number 3 on the keypad.

    • 3

Enter a new six-digit personal number. Pause for a second after entering the number and then re-enter the new number. If the light flashes green, the new code has been accepted. If the system light flashes red, you have entered a wrong number and must start over.

    Changing User Codes

    • 4

Locate your personal number and the user code if you wish to delete a user code from the keyless lock. Look for the personal number and user code on the back of the lock on a yellow sticker or with the instructions that came with your keyless system.

    • 5

Enter your six-digit personal number into the keypad and then press the Schlage button above the keypad. If you are deleting an old user code, press the number 2 after you press the Schlage button. If you are adding a new user code, press the number 1 after you press the Schlage button.

    • 6

Enter the four-digit user code you wish to add or delete into the keypad. Pause for a second, and then enter the four-digit number again. If the system light flashes green, you have successfully added or deleted a user code. If the light flashes red, you have entered a wrong number and must start over.
