How to Make a Carpet Runner Stay on a Wood Floor

It is important when placing a decorative carpet runner on the floor, however, that you take precautions to make sure it stays in place. This is especially true if you have small children or pets running around the home. A rug underlay pad is simple to install and will prevent slippage on you wood floor.

  • Tape measure
  • Rug underlay pads
  • Scissors

Instructions

      Measure your carpet runner using a measuring tape.

      Cut the rug underlay pad so that it is just a few inches smaller than the runner.

      Place the rug underlay pad on the floor in the location where the carpet runner will be. Place the carpet runner on the floor on top of the underlay pad.

      Smooth out any bumps with your hand.

      Test the runner to be sure it does not slip.
