How to Kill Stink Bugs Inside Your House

Stink bugs are known for their shield-shaped bodies and distinctly unpleasant aroma. These pests emit odors when stressed, so simply entering your home and stomping on the stink bugs is not a good idea. Fortunately, there are other ways to eradicate the stink bugs already in your home and stop new ones from finding their way inside.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum stink bugs from areas where they have gathered. It is not unusual to see stink bugs congregate in large groups, and you can simply vacuum up those pests. Change vacuum cleaner bags after you are done.

    • 2

Use a commercial fogger or insecticide bomb to deal with stink bugs in an attic. Read the instructions carefully and remove people and pets from the home while the fogger is being applied.

    • 3

Cut the top off a bottle of dish soap and mix a solution of soap and water. Drop any stink bugs you find into the solution to kill them. Keep the bottle handy until it's full, then discard the bottle and the dead bugs.

    • 4

Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray any stink bugs clinging to the walls and ceiling. The alcohol will saturate the bugs and kill them.

    • 5

Prevent more stink bugs from entering your home by sealing up cracks in doors and windows and fixing screens and areas where they might be coming into your home. Apply a commercial insecticide to the exterior of your home to prevent stink bugs from coming in. You may need to reapply the insecticide every week or so, since the chemicals tend to break down in the sunlight.
