DIY Baby Cabinet Lock

Sometime during the first year of life, your cute, immobile baby will learn how to crawl. With crawling comes a whole new ability and curiosity. As a parent, it is your responsibility to protect your children from dangerous things in the home. Cabinets that contain harmful substances or glass surfaces can be especially dangerous to children. One simple way to keep children from harm’s way is installing a cabinet lock.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut 4-inch pieces of industrial strength Velcro. You’ll want one piece for each open side of the cabinet.

    • 2

Clean off the cabinet edge and door with some warm water and mild detergent. Wipe the cabinet dry.

    • 3

Remove the sticky backs from the Velcro and place it into position on the cabinets. The Velcro's hold will require more muscle than what your children possess for removal. Once you no longer need the Velcro, simply pull the strips off and rub away any remaining adhesive with rubbing alcohol.
