Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing lock and latch from the door. Remove the strike plate from the door jamb.

    • 2

Slide the latch into the hole in the edge of the door with the arrow on the side of the latch pointing up. Use a wood block and hammer to tap the latch into place. If the latch doesn’t sit flush against the edge of the door, mark around the perimeter of the latch plate with a pencil and remove the latch.

    • 3

Use a hammer and chisel to remove the wood inside of the pencil marks until the latch will sit flush against the door. Insert the latch with the arrow facing up, and mount it using the included wood screws and a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 4

Peel the sticker off the threaded post on the back of the keypad-side of the lock. Feed the wiring harness under the latch, and slide the keypad-side of the lock into the hole in the outside of the door. Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the threaded post until it extends 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch from the door face.

    • 5

Snap the base plate onto the threaded post. Connect the wiring harness from the keypad to the 4-pin harness on the base plate. Connect the battery lead to a new 9-volt battery. Snap the battery into the holder on the base plate. Snap the wiring connector into the retaining clip on the right-hand side of the base plate.

    • 6

Turn the thumb-turn on the inner trim plate until the flat spot on the tailpiece aligns with the flat spot on the lock ring inside the base plate. Align the tailpiece with the lock ring and slide the trim plate onto the base plate. Insert the two retaining screws in the inner plate and tighten them securely with a Phillips screwdriver.

Make sure the handles on the Schlage keypad lock extend away from the door edge. If the handles are pointing in the wrong direction, you’ll have to switch them from one side to the other. Slide the included tool into the small hole in the base of the handle, and press in firmly. Pull out on the handle to remove it from the lock. Repeat this process for the other handle. Slide the handle from the inside onto the post on the outside, and press it firmly until it snaps into place. Repeat this step with the handle from the outside on the inside post.

Place the strike plate over the hole in the door jamb. If the plate doesn’t sit flush, trace around it with a pencil and chisel out the excess wood. Screw the plate to the door jamb using the included screws and a Phillips screwdriver.
