• An appliance dolly allows a person to comfortably maneuver a heavy appliance, such as a stove, refrigerator or dishwasher. These devices are similar to smaller utility dollies and often use nylon straps or other securing devices to ensure the appliance doesn't shift when you're using the dolly.

• Each appliance dolly is rated by its manufacturer to handle up to a maximum amount of weight. Common dollies are generally rated around 600 to 800 pounds. Heavy duty models are generally available with ratings up to 1,200 pounds. Regardless of the type of dolly used, it's important not to exceed the weight limit as this may damage the dolly and be a safety hazard for anyone operating the machine.
