Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing lock, latch and strike from the door and jamb.

    • 2

Measure from the edge of the door to the center of the cutout for the Kwikset touchpad lever. Set the backset of the included latch to the measured distance. Slide the latch into the hole in the door edge, with the angled side facing the jamb. Insert and tighten the included wood screws. (ref 1, pg 1: fig 1, 2, 2a)

    • 3

Install the strike plate on the door jamb with the sloped tongue toward the door. Fasten the plate to the jamb using the included wood screws.

    • 4

Feed the wiring harness on the touchpad under the latch from the outside of the door. Slide the tailpiece through the center of the latch and hold the touchpad on the outside of the door. Feed the wiring harness through the cutout in the top of the interior mounting plate, and hold the mounting plate on the inside of the door. Insert the two long machine screws through the holes in the mounting plate and into the back of the touchpad. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 5

Slide the half-round spindle through the inner plate, next to the tailpiece. Make sure the convex side of the spindle is toward the door latch.

    • 6

Remove the cover and battery compartment from the interior lock assembly.

    • 7

Plug the wiring harness into the back of the interior assembly and hang the assembly on the tabs on the interior plate. Insert the two small machine screws in the front of the interior assembly and tighten them to secure the assembly to the plate.

    • 8

Use the included Allen wrench to move the set-screw in the handle spindle to the side of the spindle away from the door edge. Slide the handle over the interior spindle, with the handle extending toward the middle of the door. Tighten the set-screw against the handle by turning it clockwise. Note that the set-screw is reverse-threaded and will turn clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten during removal.

    • 9

Slide the lock cylinder into the handle spindle on the outside of the door. Slide the handle over the spindle and push it until it stops. Insert the key into the lock cylinder and turn it 90 degrees clockwise. Push the cylinder and handle firmly onto the spindle until each seats fully against the lock. Turn the set screw clockwise to attach the handle. Turn the key 90 degrees counterclockwise and remove it from the lock cylinder.

    • 10

Install the batteries in the battery compartment and slide it into the top of the interior assembly. Program the lock according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

    • 11

Slide the cover over the interior assembly. Insert and tighten two Allen screws in the sides of the cover.
