Smart Step System for Pool Steps

Components

• The basic Smart Step System combines two products -- the Smart Step and the Smart Choice Ladder. The Smart Step is a flat-pack set of steps and risers. The steps snap and screw together easily at home and do not require any special tools, although they do take two people to assemble. You will also need to purchase sand for the sand bags that provide ballast to the steps. The railing of the Smart Steps clips over your pool rim to hold the steps in place. The Smart Choice Ladder is also assembled at home and is an adjustable plastic ladder with handrails that fit over the rim of the pool.

Advantages

• By combining the Smart Step and the Smart Choice Ladder, you can create a system that allows you to place steps on the outside of your pool and a ladder on the inside. This allows swimmers to more easily climb into and out of the pool. The steps lock in place to provide a safe and stable access to the pool, especially for younger and older swimmers. The steps can also be attached directly to a deck, providing additional stability.

Adding Features

• In addition to the Smart Step and the Smart Choice Ladder, you can add other Main Access products to the system. The Smart Lite can be installed on the steps of the Smart Step to provide illumination at night. These lights do not need any special hardware to install. The Smart Step can also be combined with the Intelli-Gate to add extra safety. The Intelli-Gate prevents young children from climbing up the steps and accidentally falling into the pool.

Disadvantages

• The Smart Step System can only be used with Main Access products, so if you already have a pool ladder and want to add one of the Smart Step components, it may not be compatible. The Smart Step components all require self-assembly, and this may not suit all people. The system can be adjusted to fit pools between 48 and 54 inches high, so if your pool is not within those dimensions, the Smart Step System may not fit your pool.
