About Fire Ladders

Fire ladders come in many different varieties and are used based upon the situation and the experience of the firefighter using them.
  1. Single Ladder

    • A single ladder comes in a fixed length, most commonly 12 to 24 feet, and can be transported and climbed easily by a single firefighter.

    Roof Ladder

    • A roof ladder is a type of single ladder with hooks attached to the top for securing to a roof or other elevated surfaces.

    Folding Ladder

    • A folding ladder, also known as an attic ladder, is a type of single ladder known for its compact design and portability. Hinged rungs allow for the ladder to fold over itself vertically for more compact storage.

    Extension Ladder

    • An extension ladder has two or more single sections that can be raised or lowered using a halyard to adjust length. Extension ladders can range from 12 to 35 feet.

    Pole Ladders

    • Pole ladders, also called Bangor ladders, are the tallest kinds of fire ladders. They are constructed in sections and use poles for additional support. Pole ladders can reach up to 65 feet but are normally used under 50 feet.
