The Miller Fall Protection Tripod model 51 is used to secure both personnel and materials in confined spaces. It is used with hoists and body harnesses to prevent falls during construction and maintenance work. As it is made of aluminum, this tripod is light in weight but can hold a relatively heavy load and withstand intense force.

    • A center anchorage and side anchorage bolt are located on the cap that joins the three legs of the tripod to its head. The former is for fall protection and the latter is for lifting personnel or material. The legs have integrated push pins, and an independent leg locking system holds the legs securely in place. The safety chain is meant to prevent slippage, as are the serrated edges and rubber skid pads of the feet. Reflective tape is also included.

It also meets the ASTM 50-hour salt spray test requirements, meaning that it is certified to perform properly and safely and to resist rust and water damage even after repeated contact with salt water.
