Prepare the site for the manufactured home. It should be level where the home will sit and a slight grade to allow for runoff. The site should be free of huge boulders and trees. Keep in mind the truck will have to maneuver the manufactured home into the proper location. Be sure there is adequate access for him to work with.
Level the manufactured home. This is crucial as manufacturer's warranties will be voided if the home is not properly leveled. It is wise to have a 60 day call back to check for any settling. A good way to check the level on the home is to place a marble in the middle of the kitchen floor. If it rolls in any direction, the home is not properly leveled. Check doors and cabinets. If the door does not stay open or swings in any direction, it may not be completely level.
Tie the frame to with straps to the concrete pillars or tie-downs. Each state has different regulations as to the exact requirements. These straps will help hold the home in place during hurricanes, tornadoes, high winds and earthquakes.
Connect the utilities. Use licensed contractors and be sure all permits are obtained and inspections are performed. This will save on costly fines.
Skirt your manufactured home. The finishing touch is skirting. No matter which type of skirting you choose, vinyl, brick, or something else, the skirting will protect the underside of your mobile home from damage.
