How to Mount a Ladder Rack on a Truck Side

Whether you are a contractor or a homeowner, installing a side-access ladder rack to your truck will give you plenty of extra space in the truck bed for smaller tools and supplies. These racks are quick to install and do not require you to add anything to the roof of your vehicle. When not in use, you can remove these racks in just a few minutes to get them out of the way.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill holes for the receiver tubes. Use one of the pre-drilled receiver tubes from your rack as a guide. Hold the tube vertically and make a mark on the truck bed where the bolt holes line up, below the level of the bed-rails. Drill holes into your truck bed where you made the marks.

    • 2

Bolt the receiver tubes to the front and back of the truck bed. Using a socket wrench and the bolt kit provided, tighten the receiver tubes to one side of the truck bed.

    • 3

Insert the ladder racks into the receiver tubes with the ladder rack facing towards the inside of the truck bed.

    • 4

Install the retention pin or bolt that holds the rack to the receiver tube.

    • 5

Tie the ladder to the top of the rack with rope.
