How to Hammer a Circle Saw Blade

Circle saws are good to have in any wood shop. Unfortunately, the blades can sometimes become slightly bent. Although you should discard severely bent blades, you can repair a slightly bent blade with a rubber mallet. This will save you money on having to replace blades needlessly. While working on your blade, you should wear safety gloves so you do not cut yourself. It will take about 30 minutes to straighten your blade.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift your circle saw's blade guard up and remove the screws holding it in place with your screwdriver.

    • 2

Use a socket set to remove the blade's retaining bolt, and remove the blade.

    • 3

Place the blade inside your workbench vise and tighten the vise. Use pliers to bend the blade slightly into shape.

    • 4

Remove the blade from the vise, and lay it flat on the work bench.

    • 5

Tap around the edges of the blade working inward in concentric circles with your rubber mallet. There is no need to pound the blade. A gentle but forceful tapping motion is all that is needed.

    • 6

Install your blade back on the saw after the blade is straightened.
