How to Put Together a Rainbow Brand Outdoor Swing Set

Swing sets make a garden perfect for children. They can be in use for many years, so a good brand and safe and sturdy assembly are vital. More than a million Rainbow swing sets are in yards worldwide, according to the company. Rainbow offers a range of pre-treated wooden swing sets, including the Fiesta Tower and Gym.

      Lay the corner uprights on the ground for the Fiesta Tower wall support and attach the four-hole fascia boards to the bottom ends, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. The ends and bottoms must be flush. Place the five-hole top joists 1 3/8 inches below the top face and 12 1/2 inches past the sides of the corner uprights.

      Attach the five-hole top joist to the top ends of the corner uprights, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. Flip both wall support assemblies. Attach the four-hole fascia boards, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware, with the tops of the fascia at 57 5/16 inches from the bottom of the corner uprights.

      Lay the corner uprights for the Fiesta Gym wall support with the holes flat on the ground, with holes facing up. Attach four-hole fascia boards to the bottom ends of the corner uprights, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. The ends and bottoms should be flush. Attach the top joists to corner uprights, using the 3/8-inch hardware.

      Attach the top joist to the corner uprights of the Rainbow swing set, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. Flip both wall support assemblies and attach four-hole fascia boards, using the 1/4-inch hardware. The tops of the fascia should be at 57 5/16 inches from the bottom of the corner uprights.

      Stand up the assemblies and attach four-hole fascia boards to the corner uprights in four locations, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. Attach the six-hole fascia boards, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. The tops of boards should be flush with each other and located 58 inches from the bottom of the corner uprights.

      Space the deck boards across the four-hole fascia boards to install the deck of the Rainbow swing set. Attach the deck boards, using the No. 8 hardware. Make sure the tops of the deck boards are flush with the tops of the fascia boards.

      Attach the angled braces to the corner uprights and the six-hole fascia boards, using the 1/4-inch hardware. Make sure that the top corners of the braces touch the bottom surface of the deck. Attach the 90-degree brackets to both ends of the deck runner and the six-hole fascia boards, using the No. 14 hardware.

      Attach four-hole and two-hole fascia boards to the corner uprights to install the store front for the Rainbow swing set, using the No. 8 hardware. The tops of the store front uprights should be 1 inch from the top of the fascia.

      Place step ladder legs on a flat surface and insert hardware into the ladder leg holes. Attach the ladder brackets to ladder legs, but don't tighten the hardware. Attach the ladder steps to the legs, making sure the steps are in the slots so the edges don't stick out. Attach the ladder entrapment board to the back of the ladder assembly. Center the ladder assembly on six-hole fascia boards and attach. Tighten the hardware.

      Attach the five-hole fascia boards and corner fascia to the corner uprights, using the 1/4- hardware and 5/16-inch hardware. The hole ends of the fascia boards should be flush with the corner uprights. Insert 1/4-inch hardware to the rail uprights with the handle holes. Attach the safety handles to the rail uprights with the handle holes, using the 1/4-inch hardware.

      Attach the center post of the Rainbow swing set to the five-hole fascia, using the 1/4-inch hardware. Attach the center post to the top joist, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. Attach the rail uprights with the handle holes to the corner fascia and four-hole fascia, using the No. 8 hardware.

      Attach the rail uprights to the two-hole corner fascia and the five-hole top joist with the No. 8 hardware. Make sure the rail uprights with the handle holes and other rail uprights rest on the deck boards. Attach the rail uprights using the No. 8 hardware and space them equally.

      Line up the holes on the five-hole top joist and center post with the center hole of the T-bracket and attach them, using the 1/4-inch hardware. Don't fully tighten the hardware. Place center post vertical with T-bracket and attach them, using the No. 14 hardware. With the center post and T-bracket vertical, attach the T-bracket to the five-hole fascia boards, using he No. 14 hardware. Tighten the hardware.

      Attach the tarp boards to the tops of the center posts and the ends of the top joists, using the No. 8 hardware. Attach the 90-degree bracket in four locations to the rail uprights with the holes and the deck boards, using the No. 14 hardware.

      Lay the rock wall legs, two-hole rock wall boards and four-hole rock wall for the Rainbow swing set on a flat surface and tap the 1/4- and 3/8-inch hardware into the holes. Lay the rock wall legs on edge with flush ends and 3/8" hardware on the outside. Attach a two-hole rock wall board 1 inch from the bottom of the rock wall legs, using the No. 8 hardware.

      Attach the remaining boards, with 3 1/8 inches between the boards and a 1 inch overhang on each side of the legs. Attach the rock wall runner to the bottoms of the boards, using the No. 8 hardware. The runner should be 1/2 inches up from the bottom board.

      Attach the ladder brackets to the ladder legs, using the 3/8-inch hardware, which should be snug but not fully tightened. Center the rock wall assembly on the six-hole fascia and attach the ladder assembly to the fascia, using the No. 14 hardware.

      Attach the top rock wall board to the rock wall legs and rock wall runner, using the No. 8 hardware. Attach the rocks to the rock wall boards, using the 1/4-inch hardware.

      Attach the two 58-inch chains to each swing seat, using the pear-shaped C-Links. Attach the two 34 chains to the trapeze bar, using the wide-jaw C-links. Insert the wide-jaw C-links into the trapeze rings and attach the rings to the trapeze bar by connecting the wide-jaw C-links in the rings to those in the chain. Close all of the C-links and tighten them with a crescent wrench.

      Insert the 3/8-inch hardware into the holes in the monkey bars and swing combo, the swing combo support and the monkey bar wings. Attach the swing hangers to the monkey bars and swing combo, using the 3/8-inch bolt cups and 3/8-inch hardware. Center and attach the ground runner to the combo support, using the 3/8-inch hardware. Make sure the bottom of the ground runner is flush with the bottom of the combo support.

      Attach the monkey bar wings to the ground runner, using the 3/8-inch hardware. Attach the monkey bar wings to the combo support, using the 1/4-inch hardware. Center the safety handles on the combo support and attach, using the 1/4-inch hardware.

      Align the number No. 1 holes and attach the monkey bar plates to the monkey and swing combo, using the 3/8-inch hardware. Align the holes numbered "2" and "3" on the swing combo, combo support and monkey bar plate and attach them, using the 3/8-inch hardware.

      Lift the monkey bar assembly and attach it to the swing set, using the 3/8-inch hardware. Tighten all of the hardware. Attach the swing assemblies and the trapeze assembly to the swing hangers, using the spring clips.

      Center and attach the steering wheel onto the end of the swing combo for the Rainbow swing set, using the 1/4- and 5/16-inch hardware. Snap the steering wheel cover into the center of the wheel. Attach the telescope base to the top joist, using the 3/8-inch hardware. Snap the telescope into the telescope base.

      Center the slide in the opening on top of the deck and attach the wave slide to the deck, using the No. 14 hardware. Drape the canopy across the tarp boards and hold the snaps against the back of the boards and tap with a hammer to leave indentations. Install the canopy snap screws into the indentations. Snap the tarp to the canopy snap screws. Place the Rainbow plaque on the six-hole fascia and attach it, using the No. 10 hardware.

      Place the glider seat into the socket of the glider handle and attach it, using the glider hardware. Repeat for the other end of the seat and glider handle.

      Hammer the stakes into the ground and attach to the corner uprights and monkey and swing combo support, using the 1/4-inch hardware, to anchor the Rainbow swing set. Make sure the stakes stick out 2 to 4 inches above the ground.
