Are Bosch & Skil Batteries Interchangeable?

Branding

• Skil was not owned by the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation until 1996, and this line of power tools has been kept separate from the Bosch line. Bosch is marketed as a high-end tool series, while Skil is a mid-price brand.

Warranty

• Using improper batteries can void the warranty on your tools. Although there are off-brand batteries on the market made to be compatible with Skil and Bosch tools, they should be used at your own risk.

Voltage

• Only use batteries with the appropriate voltage with the tool. The voltage should be marked clearly on the battery and the drill. As a safety measure, the shape of the battery is generally slightly different for each voltage, making it impossible to insert the wrong battery.
