How to Square a Delta Table Saw

Delta manufactures a wide variety of tools, including table saws. These tools come in handy when you need to cut large planks of wood at angles or just straight cuts. If the table saw isn't squared, however, your cuts won't be either, and your project may suffer. To fix the issue, you need to square up the table saw, which takes just a few minutes to align things properly.

Things You'll Need

  • Combination square
  • Hex-head key set

Instructions

Stand in front of the table saw so that the adjustment handwheels underneath the deck are in front of you. Lift the lock lever on the top of the blade guard, which is the clear plastic guard around the blade. Lift the blade guard so that it's perpendicular to the table, then pull the pin out from around the guard. Take the blade guard away from the table.

Rotate the left handwheel clockwise to raise the blade to its highest position. Tighten the knob in the center of the left handwheel with your hands by turning it clockwise, locking the handwheel in place.

    • 3

Place the base of the combination square on the table so that the rule end of the square is pointing up. Turn the right handwheel clockwise using your hand until the face of the blade is flush with the edge on the combination square. Turn the knob in the center of the right handwheel clockwise to tighten the blade to its new aligned position.

Pull up the riving knife located just behind the saw with your hands. Place the straight edge on the combination square against the face of the saw blade and the riving knife to ensure that they are square to each other. Turn the set screws on the base of the riving blade with a hex-head key if the knife is not aligned with the saw blade.
