# How to Use the Vacuum Attachment for Sawdust Collection on a Table Saw or a Sliding Compound Saw
Sawdust is a real problem when you are working with wood on a regular basis. Sawdust is one of the worst allergens and a sawdust allergy can appear at any time. While wearing a mask and gloves is a good start, a vacuum attachment on your saw will minimize dust inhalation.

- Shop vacuum with sawdust attachment

Assemble the attachment onto the end of your shop vacuum. Typically the attachment you’ll want to use will be a long rectangular piece. This is meant to cover the entire cutting area.

Clip the vacuum onto the top of your saw with the mouth piece as close as possible to where the wood will be cut.

Plug in the vacuum and turn it on whenever you are sawing wood.

Empty the vacuum bag at the end of your project and dispose of the wood dust.
