Instructions

  1. Sodium Borate

    • 1

Combine 1 pound of sodium borate in 1 gallon of water in a bucket or bowl that is large enough. Mix the items thoroughly.

    • 2

Apply the mixture to bare wood surfaces such as wall joists and studs with a paintbrush or roller. Saturate the wooden surface as much as you can to prevent against further termite damage.

    • 3

Pour the mixture in a hand-held mist sprayer and spray the mixture on bare wood areas that are more difficult to get to, such as corners.

    Boric Acid

    • 4

Combine 4 tablespoons of grape jelly with 1 tablespoon of boric acid in a bowl.

    • 5

Add 3 tablespoons of canned cat food to the mixture and mix the ingredients thoroughly.

    • 6

Scoop a teaspoon of the mixture and place the mixture in areas where the termites are entering your home or where they are nesting. Ensure that you do not place the mixture in areas that are accessible by pets to avoid having your pets eat the mixture.

    • 7

Repeat the procedure yearly during spring time to prevent termite damage and infestation.

    Essential Oils

    • 8

Obtain clove bud oil and vetiver oil. Pour clove bud oil in a hand-held mist sprayer.

    • 9

Spray damp and old wood around your home where the termites are located with the clove bud oil.

    • 10

Fill a second sprayer with vetiver oil. Spray this oil in areas where termites were recently located to stop new infestations. Although vetiver oil will not kill termites, it is useful to spray in areas to prevent infestations.

    Aloe

    • 11

Fill a mortar and pestle with water. Crush an aloe plant in the water with the mortar and pestle. Allow the plant to soak for several hours.

    • 12

Pour the mixture through a strainer to rid the mixture of the water, but retain the aloe pieces.

    • 13

Combine 1 part aloe to 5 parts water in a bowl. Fill a mist sprayer with the mixture.

    • 14

Spray the ingredient combination directly on the termites to rid your home of termites.
