How to Treat Worm Holes in Wood

Worm holes in wood are not only less than attractive, they also conjure up disgusting thoughts of the insects that are crawling through the wood. Wood must be properly treated when worm holes are discovered. This is not only to preserve the wood, but to rid the wood of any eggs that may be nesting inside the wood. Instructions

    • 1

Apply Boron-based gel to a paint brush and brush the gel over the worm hole in the wood applying a thin coat. Use a rag to remove any excess gel. Do not use this on any surfaces that you plan on painting or varnishing on the future.

    • 2

Shake the can of woodworm treatment. Apply the nozzle to the spout of the aerosol spray. Point the nozzle at the worm hole and compress the spout.

    • 3

Dip your fingertip into the wax finish and apply the wax over the worm holes by rubbing it from your finger across the wood. Spread the wax evenly. The wax seals smaller holes that may go undetected and suffocates any wood worm eggs that are nesting in the wood.
