The lazy Susan design has an L-shape with storage options in both ends of the unit. The door for this type of unit bends in the middle with hinges, so it becomes one single door rather than two individual cabinet doors. The inside of the lazy Susan design often includes a few shelves or a circular rack for storage that slides out of the cabinet. This unit measures 36 inches in width and the standard 34 1/2 inches in unit height. The depth is 24 inches.
In another type of corner cabinet design, the unit is shaped to fit the wall and the front is angled at 45 degrees rather than 90 degrees like the lazy Susan model. This type of corner cabinet often consists of shelves and a single door; it frequently is mounted to the wall above the countertop. This type of corner cabinet is 24 inches wide on both sides resting against the walls and approximately 40 inches high, which is slightly higher than standard base cabinets.
The standard measurements for cabinets cannot be applied to corner cabinet units, as these units are often designed around a specific corner. For example, a kitchen corner may not fit the ideal 90-degree corner, meaning the corner cabinet does not follow the standard measurements.
Cabinets also are located above the oven and stove. Although these are not corner cabinets, they frequently are mounted to the corner units, especially if there is not much room between two corner cabinets. These upper units have the same depth as the corner cabinets, but are only 15 inches high to make room for stove steam, heat and a range hood. The width of these cabinets depends on the wall space available.
