DIY Wooden Wall Pot Rack

Pot racks are an effective way to keep your pots and pans within easy reach while you are cooking. They also are a space-saving option for kitchens with limited space. Build a wooden pot rack that can be mounted to a wall near your stove as a do-it-yourself project. Use maple for the project so that it will be strong and visually striking. The rack consists of a narrow rectangular assembly that projects from the wall. S-hooks hang over the front board to hold the pots.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the two 1-by-2-by-6-inch boards parallel to each other on a work surface with the 1-by-6-inch sides resting flat. Space the boards with the outside edges 32 inches apart. These are the pot rack ends.

    • 2

Position one 1-by-2-by-32-inch board across each end of the boards to form a rectangular box assembly. These are the front and back boards. The 1-by-32-inch sides of the boards should be resting flat on the work surface.

    • 3

Drive two evenly spaced decorative head screws through the back board into the ends of the end boards using a screw gun. Leave the front board unattached until you mount the back board assembly to the wall.

    • 4

Slide a stud finder across the wall in the general area where you would like to mount the pot rack. Mark the location of the two nearest studs onto the wall with a pencil at the desired height for the pot rack.

    • 5

Center the back board assembly against the wall over the marked stud locations. Hold it against the wall at the desired height for the pot rack. Place a level across the assembly and adjust as needed.

    • 6

Drive two evenly spaced decorative head screws through the back board into the wall at each marked stud location using a screw gun.

    • 7

Place the front board across the front ends of the end boards. Drive two evenly spaced decorative head screws through the front board into the ends of the end boards with a screw gun.

    • 8

Slide S-hooks over the top of the front board so that the bottom part of the S-hook projects from the bottom edge of the front board so that you can hang the pots from the front of the rack.
