How to Use a Craftsman Multi-Tool to Make Right Angles in Wood

The Craftsman Multi-Tool is designed to make many common tasks around the home straightforward to accomplish with one device. The oscillating Multi-Tool comes with six detachable blade tips for working with different shapes and materials including drywall and wood. While the Craftsman Multi-Tool helps with precise cutting, making a right angle in wood remains a task of precise measurements and marking. Without a square marking, the Craftsman Multi-Tool does not have a guide to make a 90-degree angle.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the utility square on the face of the wood you are cutting. Position the right angle of the square where you want to make the angle in the wood.

    • 2

Draw a pencil line along the inner-edge of the utility square to mark your cut line.

    • 3

Remove the battery from the Craftsman Multi-Tool and then attach the "straight-edge" cutting blade. Replace the battery.

    • 4

Press the "Power" button on the Multi-Tool and then bring the tip of the cutting blade to the edge of the cutting line made with the pencil. Position the blade tip perpendicular to the wood and cut on the waste side of the line. This is the side of the pencil line where you are cutting away the wood from the final piece.

    • 5

Cut until you reach the right angle of the pencil line. Lift the blade tip and reposition it along the second segment of the line, opposite the 90-degree angle. Cut along this line with the blade.

    • 6

Place the utility square against the edge of your cut to match up the angles. A perfect cut wood fits snugly in the corner of the utility square with no light passing through. Repeat steps 4 and Step 5 to make additional right angles.
