How to Clean Furniture With Acetone

Constantly using wood furniture causes chemicals to pass from your skin and clothing onto the furniture. The chemicals pile on top of each other and cause a thick, grimy buildup to form on wood furniture, creating an unattractive finish. The grime is extremely difficult to remove, making it necessary to use a heavy-duty product in order to clean the surface thoroughly. By selecting acetone, you can clean the furniture thoroughly in less than 10 minutes, leaving the surface appearing smooth and brand new.

Open all of the windows in the room and place rubber gloves over your hands. Providing adequate ventilation in the space is extremely important. It is also necessary to protect your hands from harsh chemicals.

    • 2

Dip a rag in the acetone, allowing a small amount to soak in. Place the wet area of the rag over your pointer finger and middle finger and scrub the affected area on the chair with the acetone. Scrub in a circular motion to remove any buildup.

Apply additional acetone to another area of the rag, and rub the affected area on the furniture in a circular motion opposite to the direction previously scrubbed.

    • 4

Wipe furniture clean with a damp rag. Remove any acetone from the surface of the furniture. Wipe the furniture dry with a dry rag to prevent any further damage to the furniture.
