How to Fix Espresso Wood Furniture

Espresso furniture is any wooden furniture that is treated with a dark brown finish. This finish works well in many home decor situations because it goes with anything, and the color isn't as strong and overwhelming as a solid black finish. The benefit of having espresso-colored furniture is that many products are available that complement it. Even repair items, such as putty and glue, are available tinted to match espresso furniture. This allows you to skip steps for a faster repair.

Instructions

  1. Breaks

    • 1

Mix a two-part epoxy adhesive according to the package instructions. Use epoxy that is espresso-colored.

    • 2

Spread a line on one side of the broken wood using the syringe the epoxy came with or one you have on hand.

    • 3

Press together, and use a clamp or vice to hold it until the adhesive fully cures. Some epoxies take several days to cure, so follow the product instructions.

    Holes

    • 4

Fill cracks or holes in the wood using espresso-colored wood putty. Use a putty knife to smear the putty into the hole.

    • 5

Remove any excess putty by running a knife blade across the surface of the wood. Wipe up any excess putty with a damp cloth.

    • 6

Allow the putty to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 7

Sand the top of the putty with 220-grit sandpaper, wipe with a tack cloth, and then polish the wood so it blends into the overall finish.
