How to Eliminate Street Lights

In some places, people wishing to cut back on municipal spending see elimination of street lights as an energy-saving possibility. Streetlight removal can also be appropriate if they are not in good physical condition and are a public health or safety risk. In most cases, the local government or other organizational body that installed the streetlight is responsible for its removal.

      Be prepared to go to public city forums, meetings or town hall gatherings to make your case for removal of the streetlights. You will make your case stronger by going prepared with accurate information.

      Gather support for your cause amongst other fellow residents. Considering collecting signatures for a petition. Gaining support of a government representative will further your cause more quickly.
