How to Remove the Lock in a Vinyl Patio Door

Some patio doors simply slide open, while others utilize lever handles or knobs. Locking mechanisms vary as well, and sliding or bolt lock styles are common. Patio doors are less insulated than solid exterior doors and may stick in the same manner as vinyl windows when moisture levels rise. Older patio door locks may deteriorate and need replacing. Removing the lock is a quick job, and only requires loosening a few screws. You don't even need an electric screwdriver, and replacement locks are available at any hardware store.
