How to Adjust an Andersen Sliding Glass Door

Sliding glass doors offer the convenience of a larger throughway between the home and outside. Normally a sliding glass door operates without any problems. However as your home settles, the framing around doors and windows comes slightly out of square. The same is true of the framing around an Anderson sliding glass door. Fortunately, there are a couple of adjustment points to make up for the opening discrepancies. Adjusting an Anderson sliding glass door enables you to keep your door gliding smoothly.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the caps covering the adjustment screws for the rollers on the inside bottom rail of the sliding glass door panel. Pry the caps away from the door with the screwdriver.

    • 2

Rotate the adjustment screw in each hole clockwise with a flat-head screwdriver to raise the door. Turn each screw in 1/4-turn increments. Turn the screws counterclockwise to lower the door.

    • 3

Open and close the door to check the operation. The door should glide smoothly. Continue making adjustments and testing the door as necessary. Push the caps back over the door rail once adjustment to the rollers are complete.

    • 4

Close the door slowly until the pin on the door jamb receiver makes contact with the latch on the door. Turn the thumb screw to the locking position. The latch should pull the door against the side jamb without force.

    • 5

Unlock the door and open it enough that you can access the door jamb. Find the adjustment screw on the receiver above the opening for the latch. Turn the screw counterclockwise with the screwdriver for a tighter fit, or clockwise for a looser fit. Test the operation again and adjust as necessary.
