How to Remove an Exterior Lock Set

From time to time, the need to replace or remove exterior door locks arises. It could be that you've lost or had a key stolen, suffered a break-in, moved to a new residence or are experiencing problems with the lock itself. Regardless, removing the lock set is a simple, do-it-yourself job for any homeowner. The most common types of exterior locks are key-in-knob locks and mortise locks, which feature a decorative plate and interior thumb-turn.
