How to Fix KraftMaid Hinge Screws That Pull Out of a Cabinet Door

Although KraftMaid cabinet doors are durable, they are still susceptible to loose hinges or screws pulling out from the door. KraftMaid uses self-closing European hinges on its cabinet doors. When the screw pulls out of the cabinet door, you cannot simply use a longer screw because of the door thickness. Fixing KraftMaid hinge screws that pull out of a cabinet door require building the screw hole back up so the screw has something to grab into when you re-tighten it into the door.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the screws that still secure the hinges to the KraftMaid cabinet door with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Place the door face down on a flat surface.

    • 2

Fill each screw hole on the door with wood glue. Stick two wooden toothpicks into each hole, and allow the glue to dry completely. Cut the toothpicks even with the door surface with a utility knife once the glue is dry. The toothpicks offer extra biting grip for all of the mounting screws.

    • 3

Position the door back into the opening, and ask a friend to hold the door as you secure the hinges. Position the door as necessary to line up the hinge mounting holes with the holes in the door.

    • 4

Secure the hinges to the door with the securing screws. Do not over-tighten the screws.
